Bloomsburg Splits Pair in Softball

SALEM, VA--The Bloomsburg University softball team split a pair of games on Sunday at the West Virginia Wesleyan Tournament played in Salem, Virginia. The Huskies beat West Liberty in game two of the day, 5-1, after falling to Ashland, 9-4 in the first game of the day.

In game two of the day, the Huskies banged out eight hits, including an RBI triple from Tara Reed (Williamsport/Williamsport) and an RBI double by Tara Emery (Sunbury/Shikellamy). Sheelin Fisher (Coplay/Allentown Central Catholic) earned the win pitching with five strikeouts and giving up just four hits.

Against Ashland in game one of the day, the Huskies held leads of 2-0 and 2-1 before the Eagles scored three times in the third and then added five more in the sixth to pull away for the victory.

Alyson Taylor (Jersey Shore/Jersey Shore) hit a solo home run for the Huskies, while Stacey Krupiewski (Trooper/Methacton) was 2-4 with an RBI double.

The Huskies, 15-7, host Philadelphia University on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in a non-conference doubleheader.
